Espresso tamper, distributor or WDT tool: which does your range need?
Compare espresso tampers, distributors and WDT tools. Learn what to check in tool listings and which configuration details to include in a KICO inquiry.

An espresso tamper, a distributor and a WDT tool describe different preparation tools. A useful buying brief identifies the tool type first, then the required fit, mechanism and supply configuration.
Start with the function
A WDT tool uses needles to work through coffee grounds before tamping. A distributor is intended for levelling the grounds. A tamper presses the prepared grounds in the filter basket.
These categories should not be treated as interchangeable names. A listing may show more than one tool or function, so read the product description and supply details before requesting a quotation. The images alone do not establish that every item shown is included.
Compare the mechanism within each category
Within the tamper range, KICO lists products with different spring mechanisms, handle designs and feedback features. These are product-specific details. A feature stated for one tamper should not be extended to the entire range.
The WDT range includes handheld needle tools and rotary designs. Some products include a storage holder or a magnetic storage feature. Check the individual listing to distinguish the operating mechanism from the way the tool is stored.
Check whether you are selecting an option or buying a combination
KHC-D01 offers a walnut-cap tamper or gravity distributor. KHC-D06 also describes separate tool choices. Their photographs can show the related tools together, but the inquiry should identify which tool is required.
KHC-E03 is different: the Black Diamond is supplied as a single-spring self-leveling tamper with a removable WDT component. This combination supply is explicitly confirmed. Its required working size should still be checked for the requested configuration.
Specify the working fit
Begin with the intended basket and machine rather than assuming that a familiar nominal size confirms compatibility. State the working diameter you need and provide relevant basket dimensions.
If you need several sizes, list the quantity for each requested configuration. Do not create combinations from a product photograph or assume that every pictured colour, tool or accessory is an orderable option.
Build a quotation request that can be checked
Identify the product code, tool function, required size, mechanism or handle option, and quantity. Include any packaging or brand requirements for review. Ask which items are supplied together when a listing shows several related components.
For a product range, compare the tools by their distinct roles before selecting closely related designs. A product code and a clearly named configuration are more useful than a broad request for “coffee accessories”.
Questions buyers ask
Is a WDT tool a tamper?
A WDT tool uses needles to work through the grounds; a tamper presses the grounds in the basket. A combination product may supply both functions, as confirmed for KHC-E03.
Does a photograph of a tamper and distributor mean both are included?
Check the listing and requested tool option. KHC-D01 and KHC-D06 describe separate choices, while KHC-E03 has confirmed tamper-and-WDT combination supply.
