What to check before ordering an espresso portafilter

Use this portafilter buying checklist to prepare machine, fitting, basket and configuration details before requesting a KICO quotation.

Prepare a portafilter inquiry around the intended espresso machine and the complete fitting requirements. A nominal diameter is useful information, but it is not a complete compatibility specification.

Identify the exact machine

Send the machine brand, model and series. KICO listings distinguish machine families and configurations, including Breville, DeLonghi, E61 and La Marzocco references. A name appearing in one listing does not make every product compatible with every machine from that brand.
If your machine name differs by market, include the model shown on the machine label. Clear photographs of the existing portafilter and its fitting can help define what must be checked. A photograph supports the review; it does not replace dimensions.

Check the fitting as well as the diameter

Identify the required nominal size and the portafilter fitting details. Provide the relevant ear or lug arrangement and dimensions from your existing part or specification.
Treat this information as a complete set of requirements. Do not assume that two parts with the same listed diameter share the same fitting. If a measurement is unknown, state that it needs confirmation instead of choosing the closest-looking option.

Specify the supplied format

A bottomless format and a spouted format describe different configurations. KICO has listings that distinguish these choices, so name the one you need and confirm any included basket or other component.
Handle form also belongs in the inquiry. A product described as lay-flat or CNC should be assessed using its own product information. These words do not establish the handle material, weight, machine compatibility or the exact accessories supplied.

Review basket requirements separately

If you also need a basket, specify the required basket configuration and working dimensions. A portafilter listing and a filter-basket listing should not be treated as a universal matched set.
For example, KHC-C03 has named pattern and dose-related options. KHC-C04 lists 2,000 holes with a confirmed 0.22 mm hole diameter. Those details describe the particular baskets; they do not independently confirm a match to your machine or portafilter.

Send a complete purchasing brief

Your request should identify the chosen product code, machine model, fitting requirements, bottomless or spouted format, handle configuration and quantity. Add the delivery destination and any brand or packaging requirements for review.
For several models, separate the quantities and specifications by product code. This makes it easier to distinguish a confirmed option from a requested change. Ask KICO to confirm the exact configuration before an order is placed.

Questions buyers ask

Is nominal diameter enough to choose a portafilter?

It is one part of the specification. The machine model and fitting details also need to match the selected product.

Can I assume the basket shown in a photograph is supplied?

Confirm the included components for the selected listing and configuration. Do not infer the complete supply from photographs alone.
